§ 1-16. Limitation on realty owned by trustees of church or religious society.

  • The trustees of a church diocese, religious congregation, church or religious society or branch or division thereof are hereby authorized and empowered to take and hold title to no more than 15 acres of land within the corporate limits of the city at any one time, if such acreage is to be devoted exclusively and is subsequently so devoted to a church building, chapel, cemetery, offices exclusively used for administrative purposes of the church, a Sunday-school building and playground therefor, and parking lots for the convenience of those attending any of such facilities, and a church manse, parsonage or rectory.
